Kathy Blackman is the Founder and President of Sophie's Circle. One husky named Sophie, changed her life and that is why she started Sophie's Circle. Many dogs have since been rescued in her honor. Read her story here http://www.sophiescircle.org/sophie-s-story.html
Sophie's Circle is a registered nonprofit 501c3 corporation that operates the only pet food bank in Volusia County, Florida. Their Pet Food Pantry has distributed thousands of pounds of food to Volusia County animals and their owners who are in need over the last several years. A pet owner facing financial hardship being able to get assistance with feeding the animal, can be the difference between the pet ending up at a shelter or not. They want people and pets to stay together! They can't do this without the kind donations from supporters so if you wish to make a pet food donation contact them! http://www.sophiescircle.org/pet-food-pantry.html
Sophie's Circle also rescues and rehabilitates dogs in need, adopting them out to loving forever homes.
If you want to have a dog, but are currently unable to make the lifetime commitment, then fostering is perfect for you! Enjoy pleasure of having a dog to love and help them out at the same time! Sophie's Circle does not have a physical facility (kennel or housing) where they can house their dogs until they find them forever homes. They rely on foster homes to care for our dogs until they find them forever homes. Foster 'parents' are required to provide is a safe and loving home for a short time, and Sophie's Circle can assist with food and veterinary care for the foster dog if need be. It is always important to get a dog that matches your needs and lifestyle, so they will work closely with you to ensure they find the right dog for you to foster. Fostering can be as short as one night or as long as one month. To become a foster, all you need to do is to fill out an application. Download the application on the website or please email [email protected] for more information.
